Pascual Sala Sánchez is a specialist in Administrative Law. He became an Administrative Law Judge by official exam in 1972. In June, 1982, he was appointed Counselor of the Court of Auditors, where he acted as President of his its Prosecution Section. He was elected Supreme Court Justice for the Administrative Law Division of said Higher Court during his rotation of Judges specializing in said Jurisdiction. He is a Permanent Member of the General Legislation Commission. He was elected President of the Court of Auditors in 1988, and later elected President of the Supreme Court and of the General Council of the Judiciary. He held this role until the completion of his legal term of office in July, 1996, when he returned to his position as Supreme Court Justice, presiding over Section 2 (Tax Law) of the Third Division. Elected Constitutional Court Judge of the General Council of the Judiciary and, later, President of the Constitutional Court.
He has participated in many courses and conferences, mainly regarding Administrative Law and the Administrative Law Procedure.
He received the Medal of the Order of Constitutional Merit and the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort and Gran Cruz de la Real and distinguished Order of Carlos III. He has received many awards and has been named honorary member of several Lawyers’ Associations and various media outlets, and was awarded the honorary degree of “Doctor honoris causa” from the Universidad de Valencia.
